The Week Ahead: Sept 18-24

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University football team gets back to action this week after a week off when the Vikings host Lake Forest College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

Midwest Conference play begins for men's and women's soccer this week as the Vikings hit the road for a pair of matches, and cross country, volleyball and women's tennis are all in action.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (5-6, 4-3 MWC)

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Marian University (4-4)

When and Where: Thursday, Sept. 21, 5 p.m., Lawrence Courts, Appleton, Wis.

Opponent: Lawrence at UW-Stevens Point (2-2)

When and Where: Sunday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m., University Courts, Stevens Point, Wis.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. MSOE (4-0)

When and Where: Sunday, Sept. 24, noon, University Courts, Stevens Point, Wis.

Fast Fact: Lawrence rookie Tillie Teske ran her personal win streak to seven matches with three more victories last week. Teske improved to 7-1 in singles play with victories over Lake Forest, Beloit and Lakeland. Lindsay Holsen, Lawrence's top player, was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week after she went 4-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Katie Nottberg to go 4-0 at No. 1 doubles.

VOLLEYBALL (5-10)

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Carroll University (6-7)

When and Where: Thursday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m., Alexander Gymnasium.

Series Record: Carroll holds a 13-10 lead in the series since 1999, and the Pioneers have won the last three matches.

Fast Fact: Junior outside hitter Arianna Neumeyer was named to the all-tournament team at the Red Hawks Invitational after the Vikings went 2-2 at the event at Ripon College. Neumeyer averaged 2.87 kills and 3.52 digs per set in the four matches.

CROSS COUNTRY

Event: Brissman-Lundeen Invitational

When and Where: Friday, Sept. 22, 5 p.m., Saukie Golf Course, Rock Island, Ill.

Fast Fact: Junior Josh Janusiak was named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week after winning the Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia Wisconsin on Sept. 9. It was third career victory for Janusiak, who was named the MWC Performer of the Week for the fifth time.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (1-4-0, 0-0-0 MWC)

Opponent: Lawrence at Knox College (3-4-0, 0-0-0 MWC)

When and Where: Saturday, Sept. 23, 1 p.m., Jorge Prats Field, Galesburg, Ill.

Series Record: In a series that started in 1987, Lawrence has a 20-2-0 lead against the Prairie Fire. Knox has won the last two meetings with Lawrence.

Fast Fact: Lawrence won its first-ever game in Michigan's upper peninsula with a 27-22 victory at Finlandia on Sept. 9. Sophomore cornerback Terrell Myers Jr., intercepted a pass for the second consecutive week when he picked off a Finlandia pass that led to a touchdown. The Vikings also recorded their first safety since the 2010 season.
