The Week Ahead: January 15-21

APPLETON, Wis. -- It's a homecoming week for multiple Lawrence University teams as the Vikings return to the friendly confines of their home venues. Lawrence hockey is back at the Appleton Family Ice Center for the first time in 2018 and the basketball teams are back at home to host for Vikings for alumni and alumnae games. Lawrence fencing also hosts home events on Saturday and Sunday.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (9-5, 5-3 MWC)

Opponent: Lawrence at Lake Forest (10-5, 6-2)

When and Where: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 5:30 p.m., Sports and Recreation Center, Lake Forest, Ill.

Series Record: In a series that goes all the way back to 1915, Lawrence holds a 58-52 lead over the Foresters.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Beloit (2-13, 1-7)

When and Where: Saturday, Jan. 20, 1 p.m., Alexander Gymnasium

Series Record: In a series that goes back to 1911, Beloit holds a 101-76 lead over Lawrence. The Vikings have put a big dent in that advantage over the past 22 years. Lawrence has a 33-10 record against Beloit since 1995. During that stretch, Lawrence put together a 16-game win streak against the Bucs.

Fast Fact: Lawrence got the Chris Kellett era off to a good start last weekend. Kellett, who is the Vikings' interim head coach, is now 2-0 after Lawrence downed Cornell 66-64 and topped Illinois College 78-75 in a tough weekend road trip. The Vikings logged 900 miles and 14 hours of windshield time on the weekend but moved into a tie for fourth place in the conference with the wins.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (4-11, 2-5 MWC)

Opponent: Lawrence at Lake Forest (7-9, 4-4)

When and Where: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 7:30 p.m., Sports and Recreation Center, Lake Forest, Ill.

Series Record: Lake Forest has a 51-13 lead over Lawrence in a series that started in the 1975-76 season.

Fast Fact: Lawrence played a great second half and picked up a road win at Illinois College this past weekend. It was Lawrence's first Midwest Conference road win since December 2013, and the Vikings also swept the season series with Illinois College.

Fast Fact: Lawrence started the second half of the season with four games on the road, and the Vikings produced a 2-2-0 record in those contests. These will be Lawrence's first home games in 48 days. Junior forward Josh Koepplinger now has 14 goals and is just five shy of tying Marc Howe's season record of 19 set in the 2009-10 season.

Fast Fact: Lawrence rookie Erin Lengel continues to impress after turning in another stellar performance at Illinois Tech. Lengel, who has been named Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week twice this season, won three events at Illinois Tech.
