The Week Ahead: March 12-18

APPLETON, Wis. -- Three Lawrence University teams head for warmer weather this week as they begin play on their spring break trips to Florida. Lawrence softball will be in Clermont, baseball is in Auburndale and men's tennis plays in Orlando. 

BASEBALL (2-5)

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Cazenovia (0-0), doubleheader

When and Where: Friday, March 16, 9:15 a.m. Auburndale, Fla.

Series Record: This is the first meeting between the teams.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Minnesota-Morris (0-2)

When and Where: Saturday, March 17, 12:45 p.m., Auburndale, Fla.

Series Record: Morris holds a 2-1 advantage over the Vikings. The teams met for the first time in 2013, and that was a 14-1 Lawrence win. The Cougars swept a doubleheader from Lawrence last season.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. UW-Oshkosh (3-2)

When and Where: Sunday, March 18, 11 a.m. Auburndale, Fla.

Series Record: In a series that goes back to 1958, Oshkosh holds a 23-2 lead over Lawrence. Lawrence played Oshkosh in the first game in its program's history.

Fast Fact: Lawrence star Matthew Holliday is closing in on Jake Gordon's career hits record. Holliday has 152 hits, just four away from breaking Gordon's record of 155. Holliday is batting a team-high .448 through seven games this season.

Series Record: This is the first meeting between the teams.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (0-0)

When and Where: Friday, March 16, 6 p.m., Clermont, Fla.

Series Record: Lawrence defeated MCLA 10-4 in 2017 in the only meeting between the teams.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. St. Lawrence (0-0)

When and Where: Saturday, March 17, 3:30 p.m., Clermont, Fla.

Series Record: Lawrence holds a 3-1 lead over the Saints in a series that started in 2006.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Keene State (0-0)

When and Where: Saturday, March 17, 6 p.m., Clermont, Fla.

Series Record: This is the first meeting between the teams.

Fast Fact: Lawrence coach Kim Tatro opens her 24th season at the helm of the Vikings and needs just one victory to hit 400 for her career. A member of the Lawrence Hall of Fame, Tatro has more victories than any coach in Lawrence history.

MEN'S TENNIS (4-3)

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Colorado College (1-9)

When and Where: Saturday, March 17, 9 a.m., Orlando, Fla.

Series Record: Colorado College won the teams' only meeting in 2013.

Opponent: Lawrence vs. Nichols (1-1)

When and Where: Sunday, March 18, 3 p.m., Orlando, Fla.

Series Record: The series is tied 1-1 with the teams splitting matches in the 2011 and 2013 seasons.

Fast Fact: Lawrence has been battling through its schedule without top player Bill Schuman-Kline for the last few weeks, and that has forced everyone to play up a position. When the Vikings have the entire lineup intact, the middle of the order has been doing some damage. Nos. 2-4 singles players Connor Maloney, Aidan Delgado and Cade Francour are a combined 9-3 when playing in those spots.
