The Week Ahead: Sept. 24-30

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence football returns to Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl after a three-week break from the home turf. Lawrence takes on defending South Division champion Monmouth at 1 p.m. on Saturday. All of the other teams are on the road this week as soccer heads to Illinois College and Grinnell, volleyball travels to St. Norbert and Illinois College and tennis goes to UW-Oshkosh and St. Norbert.

Fast Fact: Lawrence senior Katie Kumbalek passed 1,000 career digs this past weekend. Kumbalek now ranks 11th in Lawrence history with 1,026 digs. Senior outside hitter Arianna Neumeyer is now just 24 kills from 1,000. Neumeyer passed 1,000 career digs last season.

Fast Fact: Lawrence had its first blocked punt for a touchdown since Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch were singing about Good Vibrations way back in 1991. Ethan Simmons blocked a punt this past Saturday at Lake Forest and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown. That was the first time the Vikings had done that since Eric Karnosky vs. Coe on Sept. 21, 1991.
