APPLETON, Wis. -- Nearly 150 Lawrence University student-athletes have been honored on the Academic All-Midwest Conference team.
Lawrence had 140 student-athletes chosen based on their academic achievement during the 2018-19 academic year. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.33 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year.
Women's swimming and diving led the Lawrence teams with 13 selections. The Vikings were recently honored with the Scholar All-America award from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America. Women's outdoor track picked up 11 honorees.
Among the men's teams, football and outdoor track were the top teams with 11 selections apiece.
Some teams had amazing percentages of student-athletes honored. Women's basketball saw nine of its 11 players made the academic all-conference team. Men's tennis had seven of its nine players honored and women's tennis had six of its eight honored. Men's cross country had seven of its 11 athletes made the grade, and softball had eight of its 13 players earn the honor.
