The Week Ahead: September 23-29

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University soccer teams kick off Midwest Conference play this coming weekend with a pair of games on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl. The Vikings face Illinois College on Saturday and Grinnell on Sunday. Volleyball also begins conference play on Saturday when the Vikings host Grinnell.

Fast Fact: I know what you're thinking, who or what is Holy Family? The Vikings' nonconference opponent on Wednesday is the former Silver Lake College, which changed its name to Holy Family College a week ago. Holy Family is located in nearby Manitowoc, Wis.

Series Record: Lawrence holds a 22-16 advantage over Ripon in a series that started in 1975. Lawrence won 14 straight matches over the Red Hawks between 2004 and 2017, but Ripon snapped that long win streak last fall.

Fast Fact: Lawrence shut out Alverno 9-0 on Sunday, and the Vikings collected five matches in which they did not lose a game. Four singles players, Lauren Aturilya, Emma Koppa, Amelia Watson and Jacki Healy, all won 6-0, 6-0. The doubles team of Watson and Healy won 8-0.
