The Week Ahead: January 20-26

APPLETON, Wis. -- All of Lawrence University's teams are on the road this week as the Vikings play in four states. Men's and women's basketball face games at Knox and Beloit, and hockey heads to Adrian for a two-game series. Swimming competes at the Private College Championships at Carthage while fencing heads to Notre Dame for the DeCicco Duals. Track has the shortest trip as it travels to Ripon.

Opponent: Lawrence at Knox

When and Where: Tuesday, Jan. 21, 4 p.m., Memorial Gymnasium, Galesburg, Ill.

Series Record: Lawrence has dominated the rivalry in recent seasons and is currently on a 16-game win streak against Knox. Lawrence holds a 65-61 lead over the Prairie Fire in a series that started in 1925.

When and Where: Saturday, Jan. 25, 1 p.m., Flood Arena, Beloit, Wis.

Series Record: Lawrence has been very good against the Bucs since the mid-1990s. Since John Tharp came on as the head coach to start the 1994-95 season, Lawrence has put together a 37-12 record against Beloit. Lawrence has won three straight and 11 of the last 13 against Beloit, but Beloit holds a 102-80 lead in a series that started in 1911.

Fast Fact: Lawrence pulled back to even in Midwest Conference play with the win over Grinnell this past Saturday. The Vikings had three scorers, Bryce Denham, Brad Sendell and Julian DeGuzman, with at least 20 points in the victory over the Pioneers.

Series Record: In a series that started in the 1989-90 season, Knox has a 25-19 lead over the Vikings. Lawrence is looking for its first win over the Prairie Fire since 2014.

Series Record: In a series that started in the 1977-78 season, Beloit has a 40-31 lead over Lawrence. The Vikings have won three of the last five games against the Bucs.

Fast Fact: Lawrence's Kenya Earl moved into fourth place on Lawrence's career scoring list in the victory over Grinnell on Saturday. Earl moved past Lawrence Hall of Famer Jackie Huss (1,105) and now has 1,111 points. Next up for Earl is another Hall of Famer, Felice Porrata, who has 1,186 points.

Fast Fact: Despite getting saddled with two losses this past weekend, Lawrence goaltender Evan Cline put up some very solid numbers against Concordia. He posted a .938 save percentage and 2.53 goals against average against the Falcons.

Fast Fact: Lawrence has one returning champion from last year in Charlie Phillips, who took first in the 200-yard butterfly in 2019. Lawrence won four titles total a season ago at the Private College meet.

Fast Fact: Lawrence got its season off to a good start with quality performances against UW-Oshkosh. On the men's side, Joe Kortenhof posted the 27th-best time in the nation in the 3,000 meters, and Leah Hawksford won the women's mile.
