Rams pull away late to topple Lawrence

MAUSTON, Wis. -- The Cornell College baseball team broke the game open in the sixth inning Friday and posted a 12-2 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University in the league crossover tournament.

The Rams scored five times in the sixth inning and added two more in the seventh to end the game via the 10-run rule at the Woodside Complex. 

Josh Dimmit went 4-for-4 with two doubles, scored three runs and drove in a pair to pace the Rams (11-13, 6-3 MWC). Keenan Bryant and Joe Orisek both had three hits for Cornell, which got 12 of its 17 hits from the bottom four hitters in the order.

Eric Daubach went the distance to pick up the win for the Rams. He allowed five hits, struck out eight and walked one. Kyle Duex took the loss for Lawrence (4-20-1, 1-7-1).

Lawrence led 1-0 after the first but Cornell tied it in the top of the second. The Rams led 4-1 after four and were still up 5-2 after five. 

The Rams then broke it open with five in the sixth, which included a two-run double by Bryant.
