MAUSTON, Wis. -- The Knox College baseball team turned back scoring threats from Lawrence University in the final three innings Saturday and held on for a 6-3 Midwest Conference victory at the Woodside Complex.
The Vikings had two runners aboard in each of the final three innings but couldn't push another run across.
Logan Thake allowed three runs and seven hits over seven innings to get the win for Knox (11-12, 4-6 MWC). Jack Barreca pitched the final 1.1 innings to pick up the save.
Ethan Jones allowed five runs over the first two innings and took the loss for Lawrence (4-22-1, 1-9-1).
Knox grabbed a 5-0 lead in the second with the help of an infield single, a bunt single, two walks and a throwing error.
The Prairie Fire was up 6-0 when the Vikings scored in the fourth with the help of an error and a passed ball. Lawrence trimmed the margin to 6-3 with a pair of runs in the sixth. Andrew Lauber delivered a sacrifice fly, and Reno Zemrak had a run-scoring single.
