DE PERE, Wis. -- The St. Norbert College baseball team had to hold off a Lawrence University rally in the nightcap Saturday to sweep a Midwest Conference doubleheader from the Vikings at Van Alstine Field.
St. Norbert rode a good pitching performance to a 7-2 win in the opener, and then hung on for a 10-7 victory in game two.
The Vikings trailed 8-2 before striking for four runs in the seventh inning. Rudy Mueller-Schrader started the inning with a double, and Zemrak followed with a single. Weber, Holliday and Andrew Lauber had consecutive run-scoring singles to trim the lead to 8-5, and a bases-loaded hit batsman cut the margin to 8-6.
St. Norbert came right back and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to push the lead to 10-6. Nick Klavekoske gave up an unearned run in the eighth when Weber doubled and scored, but the Vikings couldn't get the tying run to the plate in the ninth.
Blake Rutherford worked 6.1 innings to get the win, and Klavekoske picked up the save. Holliday pitched the first five innings for the Vikings and took the loss.
In the opener, Carson Jacques allowed four hits and two runs over eight innings to get the win for St. Norbert (26-8, 15-2). Brad Olson gave up nine hits and seven runs over 6.1 innings and took the loss.
Griffin Jack went 2-for-4 with a homer and drove in three runs for the Green Knights.
