JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University baseball team rallied in the final inning Saturday but came up short in a 7-5 nonconference loss to Iowa Wesleyan University at Lenz Field.

The second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to rain.

Matt Holliday went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and a double to lead Lawrence (0-1). Zach Rabideau and Travis Weber both had two hits for the Vikings.

Chazz Brown went 2-for-4 with a homer to pace Iowa Wesleyan (1-0).

Cody Brown went 6.2 innings, struck out six and walked one, to pick up the win. Mitchell Wilcox got the final out for the save. Kyle Duex went 6.2 innings, struck out four and walked five, and took the loss.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Vikings cut into the lead in the fourth. Rabideau led off the inning with a single, and Holliday followed with a homer to cut the margin to 3-2.

Brown homered in the fifth, and the Tigers added three unearned runs in the seventh to push the margin to 7-2.

Lawrence's rally in the bottom of the seventh started with Andrew Lauber's one-out bunt single. Mike Brady followed with a triple to cut the lead to 7-3. After Nolan Spencer walked, Rabideau singled to score Brady. A walk loaded the bases, and a wild pitch allowed Spencer to score to cut the lead to 7-5. With the tying run in scoring position, Wilcox got Pat McDonnell to ground out to end the game.

The same two teams are set to play a doubleheader on Sunday.
