JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The MacMurray College baseball team scored eight runs over the course of three innings Sunday to pull away for a 9-6 nonconference victory over Lawrence University at Lenz Field.

MacMurray (2-6) broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the fourth, and the Highlanders added two more in the fifth and three more in the sixth to forge a 9-3 lead. Lawrence (1-5) added three runs in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run at the plate before MacMurray got the final out.

Nolan Spencer went 4-for-5 and scored three runs from the lead-off spot in the lineup for Lawrence. Matt Holliday went 2-for-5 with a double and drove in three runs for the Vikings.

Nathan Luft went 3-for-5 to pace MacMurray's 12-hit attack. Trevor Knipe allowed three runs over six innings to earn the win. Nick Guzzo allowed nine runs over 5.2 innings and took the loss.
