Green Knights take two from Lawrence

DE PERE, Wis. -- The St. Norbert College baseball team swept a Midwest Conference doubleheader from Lawrence University on Saturday at Van Alstine Field.

The Green Knights took the opener 11-1 and won the nightcap 16-6.

In the opener, Carson Jacques tossed a two-hitter for the Green Knights (18-10, 7-3 MWC). Jacques struck out two and walked two. Brad Olson threw six innings for the Vikings (11-16, 4-6), allowed seven hits, struck out one and walked two.

St. Norbert led 5-1 before putting the game away with five runs in the seventh inning.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored six times in the third inning to take control and scored seven times in the seventh to close out the game.

Patrick McDonnell went 2-for-3, blasted a three-run homer and drove in five runs for Lawrence. Cullen Ellis also went 2-for-3 for the Vikings.

Bryce Braspennickx allowed one hit over 2.1 innings of relief to pick up the win. Matthew Holliday gave up five hits and six runs in two innings and took the loss.
