AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Lawrence University baseball team ended its spring break trip to Florida on a down note Saturday as the Vikings dropped a pair of nonconference games to Middlebury College.

Middlebury won the opener 9-2 and took the second game 10-0.

In the opener, Lawrence led 2-1 heading to the bottom of the third, but the Panthers scored three in the third and three more in the fourth to take control.

The Vikings had five players with one hit apiece, and the offense was highlighted by Patrick McDonnell's home run. McDonnell homered in the second to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead, and Middlebury scored in the bottom half of the inning to tie it.

Lawrence took the lead back in the top of the third on Andrew Lauber's run-scoring single, but the Panthers got a two-run homer from Henry Strmecki in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good.

Colby Norris went the distance to get the win for Middlebury (5-2), and Clayton Agler took the loss for Lawrence (3-8).

In the nightcap, Middlebury got a great pitching performance from Michael Farinelli, who took a no-hitter into the fifth. McDonnell broke up the no-hitter with a single in the fifth, and Nolan Spencer added a single in the sixth. Farinelli went six innings and struck out nine.

Brad Olson went three innings for the Vikings and took the loss. Middlebury scored a run in the third and then added nine runs over the final four innings to pull away.
