CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Lawrence University baseball team dropped a Midwest Conference doubleheader at the University of Chicago on Monday.
The Vikings fell 17-1 and 16-1 in a pair of seven-inning games at Anderson Field.
In the opener, Lawrence (3-16, 0-8 MWC) was limited to only two hits by a pair of Chicago pitchers. Kyle Petri worked six innings to get the win, and Chris Shaw started and took the loss for the Vikings.
Chicago (17-6, 6-2) broke the game wide open with eight runs in the fifth to build a 14-0 lead.
In the second game, three Chicago pitchers limited Lawrence to two hits. Joe Liberman worked three innings of relief to get the win, and Clayton Agler started and took the loss.
Lawrence led 1-0 after the first, but the Maroons scored four times in the second and twice in the third to grab the momentum.
