This is the second all-conference selection for Spencer, who made the team as a rookie in 2016. This is McDonnell's first all-conference selection.
Spencer (Elmhurst, Ill./York), Lawrence's starting shortstop for the past four seasons, hit .304 in conference in conference play with five doubles. Lawrence's lead-off hitter, Spencer got on base at a .475 clip and scored 15 runs in 15 conference games. On the season, Spencer hit .326 with five doubles, a triple, 26 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and nine runs batted in.
Spencer finished his career as a .328 hitter with a .472 on-base percentage. A two-time Midwest Conference Player of the Week, Spencer piled up a school-record 114 runs, swiped a school-record 76 stolen bases and collected a school-record 93 walks. He hit a career-best .413 in 2016, set a school record with 39 runs scored and picked up a career-best 30 stolen bases.
McDonnell (Nashua, N.H./Nashua), a junior catcher, hit .321 in league play with six doubles, a triple, four homers and 16 RBI in 16 games. Lawrence's power bat in the lineup, McDonnell compiled a .679 slugging percentage in league play.
On the season, McDonnell hit .318 with six doubles, three triples, five homers, 17 runs scored and 24 RBI. McDonnell now has 13 homers for his career and is just three away from tying Kevin Fitzsimmons' school record.
