Stephani, McLaughlin named to NABC Honors Court

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball standouts Jeremy Stephani and Evan McLaughlin have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.

Stephani (Arlington Heights, Ill./Wheeling) and McLaughlin (La Grange, Ill./Nazareth) were both named to the team in their first year of eligibility. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior and have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average.

Stephani, a junior guard, is an economics major and a member of the Academic All-Midwest Conference team. Stephani started all 22 games last season and averaged a team-high 13.7 points per game. He shot 42.4 percent from the floor and connected on 34.6 percent of his shots from beyond the 3-point line. Stephani also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

McLaughlin, a junior guard, is a government major and a member of the Academic All-Midwest Conference team. McLaughlin played in all but one game a season ago and made 12 starts. He averaged 4.0 points per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. McLaughlin added 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Lawrence, which finished fifth in the Midwest Conference, opens its season Nov. 15 when it hosts Wisconsin Lutheran College at Alexander Gymnasium.
