APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team will lace it up against UW-Oshkosh in a charity exhibition game on Monday night.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center. Admission is free and donations will be collected for the American Red Cross and its efforts to help victims of this summer's hurricanes.

The game features two old friends on the benches as Lawrence head coach Joel DePagter and UW-Oshkosh head coach Pat Juckem are both Lawrence gradutes. DePagter is a former Midwest Conference Player of the Year who led the Vikings to the 1997 Midwest Conference championship before graduating in 1998. Juckem is a 1995 Lawrence graduate and was a basketball and football standout for the Vikings.

DePagter and Juckem served together as assistant coaches for the Vikings more than a decade ago. They worked together as the Vikings won Midwest Conference titles in 2004 and 2005 before Juckem departed to be the head coach at Coe College. DePagter won another title as an assistant coach and claimed Midwest Conference championships in 2008 and 2009 as Lawrence's head coach. He was named the 2009 Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.

DePagter enters his 11th season as the head coach at Lawrence with four returning starters, including sharpshooting guard Jeremy Stephani and three-point ace Ben Peterson. Juckem is heading into his sixth season as the coach of the Titans after serving at Coe for seven years. The Titans were recently picked for third place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after posting a 17-11 record in 2016-17 and earning a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Lawrence opens its regular season on Nov. 15 when the Vikings host Wisconsin Lutheran College at Alexander Gymnasium.
