APPLETON, Wis. -- The St. Norbert College men's basketball team pulled away in the final six minutes Wednesday and posted a 73-59 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.
D.J. DeValk scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead St. Norbert (6-1, 3-0 MWC), which shot 57 percent from the floor in the second half.
Point guard Quinn Fisher led Lawrence with a season-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Ben Peterson added 19 points and four rebounds for the Vikings (5-1, 2-1).
The game was tied at 38-38 after a pair of free throws from Lawrence's Mason Materna with 12:26 left in the game. The Green Knights scored the game's next six points before Peterson's putback cut the lead to 44-40.
St. Norbert then pushed the lead to 52-40 with the help of a pair of three-pointers, but Peterson scored Lawrence's next six points to cut St. Norbert's advantage to 54-46 with 6:01 remaining.
The Green Knights put the game away in the next three minutes when DeValk hit three three-pointers, sandwiched around a Brian Luteyn layup, to pull out to a 67-53 lead. Lawrence didn't get closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
