APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lake Forest college men's basketball team pulled away late in the first half Saturday and went on to an 82-51 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University in the regular season finale at Alexander Gymnasium.
Aram Arslanian led Lake Forest (17-8, 13-5 MWC) with 18 points, and Sean Espinosa added 16.
Senior guard Jeremy Stephani paced Lawrence with 15 points and eight rebounds and finished his career with 1,098 points. Ben Peterson, seeing his first action after missing eight games due to injury, added 10 points and six rebounds for the Vikings (11-13, 7-11).
Lawrence got off to a strong start and built a 20-12 lead with the help of two three-pointers apiece from Stephani and Peterson. Mason Materna's jumper gave the Vikings a 25-19 lead with 6:59 left in the first half before Lake Forest scored 16 consecutive points.
Arslanian's jumper capped the run that gave Lake forest a 35-25 lead with 2:41 left in the half. The Foresters built a 14-point lead before Bryce Denham's layup cut the margin to 42-30 at the break.
Lake Forest scored the first seven points, including five by Arslanian, of the second half to build a 49-30 lead. The Foresters would lead by as many as 34 points.
