SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team fell 79-74 in overtime to UW-Stout on Friday in a nonconference game at the Merrill Thompson Tip-Off Classic.

The Vikings led by as many as 14 points in the second half before Stout rallied at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium at UW-Superior.

Rookie guard Brad Sendell led Lawrence with 16 points, and Quinn Fisher added 11 points. Senior George Mavrakis pulled down 12 rebounds to go with six points for the Vikings.

Lawrence capped a 9-3 run with Bryce Denham's dunk with 8:04 left in the second half to grab a 61-47 lead. Stout immediately rallied by scoring the game's next nine points to trim the margin to 61-56.

Stout scored the last five points of regulation, including a 3-pointer by Luke Geiger with 15 seconds left, to tie the game at 68-68. The Vikings missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds that would have won it.

The Blue Devils scored the first four points of the overtime, and the Vikings never got closer than two points after that. The Vikings were down five when Sendell's layup cut the lead to 77-74. Stout converted a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory.
