APPLETON, Wis. -- A late scoring surge was the difference Tuesday as the Lawrence University men's basketball team fell 80-70 to Lake Forest College in a Midwest Conference game at Alexander Gymnasium.

The game was tied at 61-61 when the Foresters scored 11 consecutive points to grab the momentum and go on to the win.

Brad Sendell scored 24 points and handed out five assists to lead the Vikings. George Mavrakis added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Vikings, and Quinn Fisher had 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

Julian DeGuzman came off the bench for Lawrence to scored 10 points and grab three rebounds. Bryce Denham had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Vikings.

Sean Espinosa led five Lake Forest players in double figures with 17 points and a game-high seven assists, and Sam Husting hit five 3-pointers for his 15 points.

Lake Forest used a late surge in the first half to build a 37-27 lead at break and led by 12 early in the second half. Lawrence came storming back with an 18-8 run to trim the lead to 49-47 with 13:31 remaining. Sendell scored eight points in the run, and Mavrakis buried a pair of 3-pointers.

The game remained tight over the next six minutes, and Lawrence tied it at 61-61 on a pair of Sendell free throws with 7:38 left.

Lawrence then went cold as the Vikings missed their next six shots from the floor, and Lake Forest pulled out to a 72-61 lead. A DeGuzman layup finally broke that streak to cut the lead to 74-64 but the Vikings were unable to pull any closer than the final 10-point margin.
