APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball standout Bryce Denham captured Midwest Conference Player of the Week honors after a tough weekend road trip.
Denham (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley), a junior forward, averaged a double-double of 23.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting better than 60 percent from the floor as the Vikings embarked on a road trip covering more than 1,000 miles.
The Vikings made the long trip to Illinois College this past Friday, and Denham scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds while contributing three assists, two blocks and two steals in Lawrence's 101-94 victory. The Vikings then traveled northwest to central Iowa on Saturday afternoon to play Grinnell College, and Denham poured in 31 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in a 120-115 overtime loss to the Pioneers.
For the weekend, Denham went 17-for-28 (60.7 percent) from the floor and 11-for-12 (91.7 percent) from the foul line. Denham is now averaging 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor.
This is the first Player of the Week award for Denham and the first selection for the Vikings since Brad Sendell was chosen in January 2019.
Lawrence returns to action on Wednesday when the Vikings travel to Ripon College for a Midwest Conference contest.
