Vikings fall to hot-shooting Ripon

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team fell behind early Saturday as hot-shooting Ripon College topped the Vikings 95-53 in a Midwest Conference game at Alexander Gymnasium.

Lawrence (9-12, 5-9 MWC) was down by double digits less than four minutes into the game as Ripon (14-7, 10-4) shot nearly 70 percent from the floor in the first half. 

Mason Materna and Bryce Denham scored 15 points apiece to lead the Vikings. Materna went 6-for-11 from the floor and Denham was 6-for-12 and both players were 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Denham had a team-best five rebounds, and Quinn Fisher picked up five assists for the Vikings.

The MWC's leading scorer, Lawrence's Brad Sendell, was limited to nine points.

Trent Jones scored 17 points, and Kyle Rutkowski had 10 rebounds to lead Ripon. The Red Hawks enjoyed a 46-26 edge on the boards.
