CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Lawrence University fencers Jakub Nowak and Maria Boulandier Leza were the top finishers Saturday for the Vikings at the NCAA Midwest Regional at Cleveland State's Woodling Gymnasium.

Nowak took seventh in men's epee, and Boulandier Leza was ninth in women's epee. 

Nowak, a sophomore from Schaumburg, Ill., posted a 3-5 record and scored 28 touches while allowing 33 touches. Boulandier Leza, a rookie from Huarte, Spain, recorded a team-best six victories on the day and finished with a 6-7 mark. She posted 45 touches scored and was a minus-3 on the day.

Two other Lawrence fencers took part with Allison Kim taking 12th in women's sabre and Beatrice Gee finishing 13th in women's foil.
