Vikings unbeaten at Lawrence Duals

The Vikings went 3-0 at the Lawrence Duals.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University fencing teams got their season off to a strong start Saturday with three dual victories.

The Lawrence men knocked off the University of Wisconsin club team 19-8 and downed the University of Minnesota club team 16-2 (sabre wasn't contested in this dual). The Lawrence women knocked off Minnesota 11-7 (foil wasn't contested in this dual).

On the men's side, Lawrence dominated the Badgers with a 9-0 record in epee and a 7-2 mark in foil. Wisconsin won 6-3 in sabre. Against Minnesota, the Vikings won 8-1 in foil and 8-1 in epee.

Jakub Nowak led the way for the Vikings by going 5-0 in epee, and Alexander Loundy and Cameron Maas were both 5-0 in foil.  

The Lawrence women topped Minnesota with a 6-3 mark in epee and a 5-4 record in sabre. Allison Kim was 3-0 in sabre for the Vikings, and Maggie Wright was 3-0 in epee.
