APPLETON, Wis. -- Top-ranked Adrian College scored three goals in a span of less than two minutes Friday, and that proved to be the difference in a 5-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Lawrence University at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

The Bulldogs were up 1-0 when they scored on the power play and then added a pair of even-strength goals to pull out to a 4-0 edge midway through the second period. Adrian added a final goal very late in the third period.

Lawrence's Nick Felan broke up the shutout with a goal in the third.

Mathew Thompson gave Adrian (1-0-0, 1-0-0 NCHA) a 1-0 lead when he scored on the power play with just four seconds left in the opening period. 

Taylor McCloy added another power-play goal at the 8:03 mark of the second. The Bulldogs went 2-for-6 on the power play for the game. Austin Rust scored for Adrian just 48 seconds later to make it 3-0. The Bulldogs then got a goal from Nick Erb at the 9:51 mark to make it 4-0.

Lawrence goaltender Evan Cline exited at that point after making 15 saves. Greg Procopio stopped 11 shots as he played the remainder of the contest for the Vikings (0-1-0, 0-1-0). 

Kevin Entmaa made 17 saves but lost the shutout on Felan's goal at the 8:35 mark of the third. Felan redirected Jake Roeper's pass past Entmaa for Lawrence's lone tally.

Adrian posted a 31-18 edge in shots.
