MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The Lawrence University hockey team rallied in the third period Saturday, but Plattsburgh State posted a 4-2 nonconference win over the Vikings in the championship game of the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut at Kenyon Arena.

Lawrence's Nick Felan and Austin Frank were both named to the all-tournament team in the event at Middlebury College.

Plattsburgh (4-4-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period with the help of two power-play goals. The Cardinals went 2-for-5 on the power play, and Lawrence (3-5-0) finished 0-for-1.

Lawrence sliced the lead to 3-1 on Frank's goal just 3:14 into the third period, but Plattsburgh bounced back quickly. Noah Batis scored for the Cardinals 1:55 later to push the lead back to 4-1.

The Vikings pulled goaltender Evan Cline late and scored with the extra attacker on the ice. On a faceoff to the left of Plattsburgh goaltender Lawson Fenton, Josh Koepplinger directed to puck to Lane King, who fired a one-timer into the back of the net with 1:10 remaining to cut the lead to 4-2.

Lawrence forced Fenton to make two more saves from close range in the final 21 seconds to preserve the win.

Fenton finished with 26 saves, and Cline stopped 27 shots for the Vikings.
