Big third period dooms Vikings at Trine

Trine scored four times in the third period en route to a 5-1 win over Lawrence.

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Lawrence University allowed four third-period goals Saturday as Trine University posted a 5-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory at Thunder Ice Arena.

Vincent Dekumbis scored his first collegiate goal for the Vikings, and Evan Cline stopped 47 shots for Lawrence.

Dekumbis gave Lawrence a 1-0 lead with 4:45 left in the opening period when the rookie scored off an assist from Evan Ketner. Trine tied the game at 1-1 on Garrett Hallford's power-play goal with just 2:43 left in the second period.

William Casey scored for Trine at the 7:06 mark of the third to give the Thunder the lead. Trine added three more goals, including a power-play tally, to complete the scoring.

Lawrence went 0-for-2 on the power play, and Trine was 2-for-4.

Brett Young made 13 saves to get the win for Trine.
