APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University scored late in the third period Tuesday to tie it and dominated the overtime, but MSOE hung on for a 2-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association tie at the Appleton Ice Center.
Josh Koepplinger's power-play goal with 6:16 remaining tied the game at 2-2, and Lawrence controlled the play for the rest of regulation and the five-minute overtime.
The Vikings outshot MSOE 5-0 in the overtime.
Evan Cline made 28 saves for the Vikings (4-10-1, 2-5-1 NCHA), and Rock Boynton stopped 24 shots for the Raiders (5-7-3, 3-3-2).
MSOE opened the scoring just over six minutes into the game when Garrett Gintoli scored off an assist from Zack Davis. It took Lawrence less than three minutes to tie it.
After MSOE's Mack Stevens got sent off for tripping, Lawrence scored just seven seconds into the power play. Some nifty passing led to Vincent Dekumbis' fourth goal of the season as Koepplinger and Gysi picked up assists on the tally at the 9:30 mark.
The score remained 1-1 until later in the third period. The Raiders took advantage of a Lawrence penalty when Stian Owens scored on the power play at the 11:35 mark to grab a 2-1 lead.
Just over a minute later, Will Gauthier was whistled for hooking and the Vikings went on the power play. Some pretty passing led to Koepplinger's goal that tied it at 2-2 as Gysi and Dekumbis collected the assists.
Lawrence went 2-for-5 on the power play, and MSOE finished 1-for-6.
Lawrence had several quality chances to score in the overtime, but Boynton stopped all five shots on goal.
