APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University gave up a key third-period goal Saturday, and No. 6 St. Norbert College went on to a 4-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over the Vikings at the Appleton Ice Center.
The Vikings were down 3-1 midway through the third period but were on a five-minute power play courtesy of a contact to the head penalty. The Green Knights turned the tables and Dominick Sacco scored a short-handed goal at the 9:31 mark to put St. Norbert (10-4-3, 6-3-1 NCHA) up 4-1.
Lawrence (4-12-1, 2-7-1) finished 1-for-4 on the power play, and the Green Knights were 1-for-3.
Evan Cline made 31 saves for the Vikings, and T.J. Black stopped 23 shots for St. Norbert.
St. Norbert got first-period goals from Riley Christensen and Logan Froberg to race out to a 2-0 lead. The Green Knights made it 3-1 on Peyton Frantti's power-play goal at the 12:35 mark of the second.
After Kurt Black got sent off for elbowing late in the second, the Vikings cut into the lead on the ensuing power play. Jake Drinkard scored for the Vikings with 52 seconds left in the second when he redirected Josh Koepplinger's shot past T.J. Black.
St. Norbert posted a 35-24 edge in shots.
