APPLETON, Wis. -- Twelve Lawrence University players have earned a spot on the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic team.
The Vikings had three three-time selections and three more two-time selections. Six players earned the honor for the first time. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have a minimum 3.3 grade point average.
Seniors Nick Felan (Highlands Village, Texas), Greg Procopio (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Tomas Vesely (Prague, Czech Republic) all made the team for the third time. Felan is a biology and biochemistry major, Procopio is a goverment major with a concentration in innovation and entrepreneurship and Vesely is an economics major.
Juniors Evan Cline (Freeland, Mich.), Daniel Gysi (Basel, Switzerland) and Chase Wiedemann (Clarkston, Mich.) all earned a second consecutive berth on the team. Cline is a chemistry and biochemistry major, Gysi is majoring in economics and Wiedemann is a mathematics major.
Newcomers to the team are juniors Jordan Boehlke (Richfield, Wis.) and Stephen Zabrowski (Montclair, N.J.) and sophomores Jacob Elrod (Franklin, Tenn.), Jacob Dobberstein (Chelsea, Mich.) and Zach Briscoe (Kensington, Md.). Boehlke is a neuroscience major, Zabrowski is majoring in economics, Elrod is a bioinformatics major, Dobberstein is an economics major and Briscoe is a physics major.
The 12 honorees is the second-most in program history.
