Lawrence drops 1-0 heartbreaker to Trine

Goaltender Evan Cline stopped 30 shots for the Vikings in a 1-0 loss.

APPLETON, Wis. -- A goal in the game's final minute was the only score Friday as the Lawrence University dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to Trine University in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams.

Trine scored on a shot from the point by Brad Jenion with 58 seconds left to break a scoreless tie. 

Lawrence goaltender Evan Cline stopped 30 shots but took the loss. Brett Young made 24 saves to pick up the shutout for Trine (2-1-0, 1-0-0 NCHA). The Thunder posted a 31-24 edge in shots on goal.

Both teams had chances throughout the game, but both goaltenders came up big multiple times. Both Lawrence (0-3-0, 0-1-0) and Trine finished 0-for-5 on the power play.

The teams wrap up the series on Saturday afternoon.
