REISTERTOWN, Md. -- The Lawrence University hockey team fell behind early Saturday and never recovered in an 8-3 nonconference loss to Stevenson University at the Reistertown Sportsplex.

Stevenson (7-1-0) scored the game's first three goals, two short-handers and a power-play tally, and led 3-1 after the opening period. The Mustangs scored three more times in the second and led 6-1 after two.

Lawrence (3-6-1) got on the board in the opening period when Vincent Dekumbis scored off assists from Daniel Gysi and Jordan Boehlke at the 16:46 mark. That trimmed the lead to 3-1.

The Vikings trailed 7-1 in the third when Jake Drinkard scored off a pass from Dekumbis at the 7:40 mark. Boehlke added a power-play goal with three seconds remaining in the game off assists from Gysi and Dekumbis.

Lawrence finished 1-for-7 on the power play, and Stevenson went 3-for-5.

Dylan Schoen played all but the final 8:34 and made 14 saves for Stevenson. Alex Mosquera gave up all eight goals and made 33 saves for the Vikings. Lawrence collected 18 shots on goals, compared to 41 for the Mustangs.
