Vikings can't dig out of early hole at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Lawrence University fell behind early Friday and couldn't recover in a 9-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association loss to No. 14 Adrian College at Arrington Ice Arena.

Adrian scored the game's first three goals and picked up five power-play tallies on the night. Lawrence scored both of its goals on the power play.

The Bulldogs (10-5-3, 8-3-2 NCHA) rushed out to a 3-0 lead just 12:26 into the first before Lawrence tried to claw back into it. The Vikings (5-12-1, 4-8-1) got a power-play goal from Vincent Dekumbis off assists from Jake Drinkard and Ivan Galaguzov to cut the lead to 3-1 at the 15:40 mark.

Adrian's Andrew Bellant scored his second goal of the game with just two seconds left in the opening period to make it 4-1 after one. The Bulldogs added two more goals in the second and led 6-1 after two.

Galaguzov then scored on the power play 2:52 into the third period to make it 6-2 as Dekumbis and Daniel Gysi collected assists. Lawrence finished 2-for-7 on the power play, and Adrian was 5-for-10. The Bulldogs then scored the game's final three goals.

Cameron Gray made 26 saves to pick up the win for Adrian. Alex Mosquera made the start for Lawrence and stopped 12 shots in the opening period. Brian Tallieu made 28 saves for the Vikings over the final two periods.
