Jatta, Weleidat score as Vikings shut out Maranatha

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team scored once in each half Tuesday to post a 2-0 non-conference victory at Maranatha Baptist University.

Nicholas Jatta scored late in the first half, and Jawad Weleidat scored early in the second half for the Vikings (2-13-1).

Lawrence rookie goalkeeper AJ Bryant made five saves to earn his first collegiate victory and shutout. Andrew Taylor made three saves and took the loss for Maranatha (8-9-0).

The Vikings got on the board at the 37-minute mark when Jatta took a pass from Lewis Berger and beat Taylor for a 1-0 edge.

It stayed that way until 12 minutes into the second half when Weleidat scored off an assist from Yuta Hayashi at the 57:26 mark.
