ALBION, Mich. -- Johnson and Wales (Colo.) University scored two first-half goals Friday and held on for a 2-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University at the Briton Invitational.
Lawrence scored on its first shot of the match as Nicholas Jatta gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead just 13:41 into the first half. Rookie Brendon Vellenga picked up his first career assist on the tally.
Johnson and Wales came back with goals at 18:43 and 34:27 to take the lead for good.
Alexis Araiza made one save to pick up the win. Cole Kelez stopped eight shots for the Vikings.
