APPLETON, Wis. -- The Cornell College men's soccer team slipped past Lawrence University 2-1 on Saturday in a Midwest Conference game on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Will Nichols scored late for the Vikings, but Lawrence could not get the equalizer.

Cornell, which remained unbeaten on the season at 11-0-2, got a goal from Logan Wright in the 34th minute and took a 1-0 advantage into the half. The Rams were then awarded a penalty kick in the 77th minute, and Pietro Amado converted to put Cornell up 2-0.

Lawrence got on the board at the 89:20 mark when Nichols took a pass from Suguaru Yoshitake and scored to trim the margin to one.

Jerome Richards made two saves for Cornell. Lawrence goalkeepers Hunter Lanton and Cole Kelez each played a half and combined to make 13 saves. Lanton got the start and made four saves, and Kelez stopped nine shots in the second half.
