APPLETON, Wis. -- Zachary Currie posted a hat trick Wednesday to lead the Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 3-0 nonconference win over Lakeland University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Currie scored twice in the first half and then picked up the third tally 13 minutes into the second half to complete the hat trick. It is the first hat trick of Currie's career.

Goalkeeper Hunter Lanton made five saves to record the shutout for the Vikings (1-2-0).

Currie put the Vikings ahead at the 16:55 mark when he scored off assists from Sam Parkhurst and Jack Morrissey. Currie was then in the right place when Morrissey's pass into the box was redirected by Tenzing Syelneon. Currie then punched it into the net for a 2-0 lead at the 31:01 mark.

Sean McLaughlin started the next scoring play when his pass found Ben Dweh. Dweh then played a cross to Currie, who redirected it into the net at 58:20 for a 3-0 lead.

The Vikings enjoyed a 17-12 edge in shots, and Lakeland goalkeeper Aaron Smith stopped six shots for the Muskies (1-1-1).
