Currie's OT goal lifts Vikings over Ripon

Zach Currie's overtime goal gave Lawrence a 2-1 win at Ripon.

RIPON, Wis. -- Zachary Currie scored in the 100th minute Wednesday to give the Lawrence University men's soccer team a 2-1 Midwest Conference overtime victory over Ripon College at Prairie Field.

Currie and Adrian Birge scored for Lawrence, and Nicholas Jatta assisted on both goals.

It was Birge who got the scoring started when he took a pass from Jatta and deposited it into the back of the net at the 9:49 mark. Ripon tied it at the 18:32 mark and the score stayed that way through the end of regulation.

Currie delivered the win with his goal off a pass from Jatta at the 99:45 mark. 

Goalkeeper Hunter Lanton stopped eight shots to pick up the win for the Vikings. Kenny Smith made 11 saves for Ripon. Lawrence enjoyed a 21-16 edge in shots.

Lawrence improved to 6-4-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the conference. Ripon falls to 0-10-1, 0-3-0 in the league.
