Vikings edged in OT at Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 double-overtime heartbreaker at Cornell College on Saturday.

Lawrence was two minutes away from victory in regulation when the Rams tied it. Cornell then won it with a goal almost 14 minutes into overtime.

Adrian Birge got the scoring started when he found the back of the net for Lawrence at the 33:40 mark off an assist by Jack Morrissey. Cornell tied it at the 57:40 mark, but Lawrence grabbed the lead back.

Mark Todd's goal at 74:54 gave Lawrence a 2-1 lead and was nearly enough for the win.

Cornell's Justin Howe scored at 88:01 to tie it, and Tyler Davis scored at 103:51 to win it for the Rams.

Hunter Lanton made three saves for Lawrence, and Tom Gallagher had four saves for the Rams.

Cornell had a 20-16 edge in shots.
