Hutchinson, Riggle pace Vikings at Wisconsin Showcase

BROWN DEER, Wis. -- Anton Hutchinson and Elise Riggle paced the Lawrence University swim teams as they opened the season Saturday at the All-Wisconsin Showcase at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.

Swimming against a field that included multiple NCAA Division I competitors, Hutchinson grabbed sixth place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:02.73 to pace the Lawrenc men. Riggle led the Lawrence women by taking 11th place in the 500 freestyle in 5:39.61 and 20th in the 200 backstroke in 2:23.98.

Rookie Charlie Phillips took 10th in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.24, and Max Stahl was 14th in the 200 backstroke in 2:12.05 to highlight some of the men's top performances.

On the women's side, Emei Thompson was just behind Riggle in the 500 freestyle as she took 15th in 5:48.79. Emmi Zheng grabbed 12th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:40.44, and Erin Lengel was 12th in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.32. In the 100 freestyle, Eryn Blagg took 16th in the 57.81 seconds, and Lizzy Garcia Creighton was 21st in 58.54.
