Yamamoto picks up win but Vikings fall to Austin

VENICE, Fla. -- The Lawrence University swim teams split their dual meet Wednesday with Austin College at the Fun In The Sun Classic. The Lawrence women defeated Austin 95-34, and Austin topped the Lawrence men 77-52.

On the women's side, four Vikings won individual events and Lawrence took first in a pair of relays.

Erin Lengel grabbed first in the 50-yard butterfly in 28.28 seconds, and Rosie Bauer was first in the 50 breaststroke in 36.53 seconds. Lizzy Garcia swam to first in the 50 freestyle in 26.85 seconds, and Eryn Blagg captured the 100 individual medley in 1:09.60.

The 200 medley relay team of Lengel, Bauer, Emei Thompson and Mandy Marsh took first in 2:02.44, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Blagg, Marsh, Lengel, Garcia grabbed first in 1:49.85.

Akio Yamamoto led the Lawrence men as he won an individual event and swam on a winning relay. Yamamoto took first in the 50 butterfly in 25.53 seconds, and he teamed with Anton Hutchinson, Travis Charlow and Tom Goldberg to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.88.
