Goldberg, Hutchinson take titles at Gene Davis Invitational

Tom Goldberg and Anton Hutchinson were both winners for the Vikings at the Gene Davis Invitational.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swimming and diving teams both won multiple titles on Saturday at Gene Davis Invitational.

The Lawrence women grabbed five individual titles and one relay crown, and the Lawrence men captured a pair of individual titles in the meet at Boldt Natatorium.

Lawrence's women also took the team title with 591 points. Carroll University was second with 553.

Erin Lengel and Caitlyn Lansing led the way for the Lawrence women as both won a pair of races and swam on a winning relay team.

Lengel grabbed first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.95 and took the top spot in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.74. Lengel also tossed in a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.99.

Lansing also took home a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.77 and she grabbed the top spot in the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.16.

Lengel and Lansing teamed with Sarah Schweickart and Lizzy Garcia to win the 200 medley relay in 1:55.07. Garcia took the other individual win for the Vikings as she swam to victory in the 100 freestyle in 57.60 seconds.

On the men's side, Anton Hutchinson and Tom Goldberg both picked up wins for the Vikings. Hutchinson was first in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.86, and Goldberg was a winner in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.51.

Hutchinson also posted a third in the 500 freestyle in 5:01.86 and a fifth in the 100 freestyle in 50.70 seconds. Goldberg also posted a third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.31. 

The Lawrence men finished fourth with 344 points, and Lake Forest College won the title with 652.
