RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swimming and diving teams swept the competition on Saturday at the Ripon Triangular.
The Lawrence men defeated Ripon College 99-64, and the Vikings topped Macalester College 106-93. On the women's side, Lawrence rolled past Ripon 155-67 and defeated Macalester 125-115.
Liam Wulfman and Charlie Phillips paced the Lawrence men by each winning a pair of events. Wulfman took first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.35, and he was first in the 100 backstroke in 59.01 seconds. Phillips swam to victory in the 100 butterfly in 57.33 seconds and took the top spot in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:00.43.
Tom Goldberg grabbed first in the 100 breaststroke for the Vikings in 1:05.25.
Erin Lengel and Maddy Smith were multiple event winners for the Lawrence women.
Lengel grabbed first in the 50 freestyle in 25.45 seconds, and she took first in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.71. Smith took the title in 1-meter diving with a score of 236.15 and was tops on the 3-meter board with a score of 222.30.
Bridget Duero grabbed first for the Vikings in the 100 freestyle in 58.18 seconds, and Elise Riggle was first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:52.96.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Duero, Lengel, Mae Grahs and Mandy Marsh took first in 1:44.74.
