Lawrence swimmers split with Bucs

Lawrence split its dual meet with Beloit.

BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swim teams split a dual meet with Beloit College on Saturday at Kresge Natatorium.

The Lawrence women rolled to a 146-39 victory over Beloit, and the Bucs topped the Lawrence men 110-76.

Erin Lengel, Mandy Marsh and Laurel Soderquist all won a pair of events for the Vikings.

Lengel took first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.78 and was first in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.61. Marsh grabbed first in the 50 freestyle in 26.54 seconds and won the 100 freestyle in 59.21 seconds. Soderquist won the 200 individual medley in 2:28.04 and raced to first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.41.

Elise Riggle won the 500 freestyle in 5:51.19, and Erin Szablewski grabbed first in the 1,000 freestyle in 12:27.23. The 200 freestyle relay team of Riggle, Lengel, Marsh and Mae Grahs was first in 1:48.01.

On the men's side, Charlie Phillips led the way as he won a pair of events. Phillips was first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:26.70 and first in the 500 freestyle in 5:30.79.

Davis Wukovits grabbed first in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.39, and Tom Goldberg took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.78.
