Vikings capture four events against Oshkosh

The Lawrence men were second and the women took third at the Private College Championships.

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University diver Maddy Smith broke both six-dive school records Saturday at the Vikings' dual meet with UW-Oshkosh at Boldt Natatorium.

Smith won the 1-meter diving with a score of 253.20, which shattered her own record of 239.90. Smith captured the top spot on the 3-meter board with a score of 264.90, which broke her own school record of 244.60.

Lawrence collected three more individual event wins, and the Vikings won one of the relays.

Mae Grahs won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:54.97, and Mandy Marsh grabbed the top spot in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.32 seconds. Erin Lengel grabbed first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.16.

Lawrence's 200 medley relay team of Lengel, Marsh, Leena Meyers and Laurel Soderquist took first in 2:00.99.

Oshkosh edged the Vikings 117-115 in the team score.

On the men's side, Anton Hutchinson, Liam Wulfman and Tom Goldberg were all winners for the Vikings. Hutchinson grabbed first in the 200 freestyle in 1:47.83, and Wulfman won the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.61 seconds. Goldberg took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.39.

Lawrence's 200 medley relay team of Wulfman, Goldberg, Charlie Phillips and Davis Wukovits were winners in 1:42.21.

Oshkosh downed the Vikings 123-95.
