MADISON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's tennis team had one doubles team reach the championship semifinals and other two take home consolation titles at the Midwest Conference Championships on Sunday.
The No. 3 team of Cade Francour and Aidan Delgado reached the championship semifinals before falling 8-5 to St. Norbert's John Zanotti and Joe Oleniczak. Francour and Delgado topped Monmouth's Cole Pyatt and Alex Martin 8-4 in the quarterfinals.
Both the No. 1 team of David Jumes and Bill Schuman-Kline and the No. 2 team of Connor Maloney and David Brooker lost in the championship quarterfinals. Both teams rebounded to win the consolation title.
Jumes and Schuman-Kline topped Illinois College in the consolation semifinals and then beat Monmouth's Ronnie Griffin and Dylan Wong 8-3 in the final. Maloney and Brooker rolled to an 8-0 win over Illinois College in the consolation semifinals and then downed St. Norbert's Alex Vandenberg and Zach Simonet 9-7 in the final.
