Maloney's win clinches Lawrence's victory over Concordia

JACKSON, Wis. -- Connor Maloney's victory at No. 2 singles Friday clinched a 5-4 nonconference victory for Lawrence University over Concordia University Wisconsin at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Center.

Lawrence (2-1) led 4-3 when Maloney closed out his 6-3, 7-6 win over Ceejay Schaffner with a 13-11 victory in the second-set tiebreaker. The Vikings also got a 6-4, 6-2 win from Aidan Delgado at No. 3 singles and a 6-3, 6-4 win by Cade Francour at No. 4.

The Vikings took control of the match early by taking two of the three doubles matches. Maloney and Bill Schuman-Kline grabbed an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles and Delgado and Francour posted an 8-4 victory at No. 2.

Concordia fell to 1-3 on the season.
