NEW BERLIN, Wis. -- The Carroll University men's tennis team survived several tough matches Friday night to post a 9-0 shutout of Lawrence University at Moorland Tennis Center.

The Pioneers (4-2) swept the doubles matches but had to go to a super-tiebreaker in a pair of singles matches. A pair of Lawrence rookies, Evan Oriel and Matt Chan, took their opponents to the limit before falling. Oriel dropped the opening set 6-0 but came storming back to take the second set 6-4 at No. 5 singles. Lamers then took the super-tiebreaker 10-4. Chan won his opening set 6-4 at No. 6 before Brian Trefliek rallied to win the second 6-3 and take the super-tiebreaker 10-4.

Lawrence falls to 4-3, and the Vikings take a break for finals before heading to Florida for its spring break matches.
